Presented by: Mike Amante, Technology Integration Specialist, New Hartford Central Schools
This session is geared towards: Techie, Teacher, Admin
Level of session: Basics, Tips and Tricks, Getting Geeky

During this session, learn how one school district's 3+ year journey using Google Apps has radically improved many aspects of school program & operation above and beyond exemplary classroom practices. In all, everything from professional development to Board of Education communication has been enhanced by innovative use of Google tools for greater efficiency and access to information.

Examples shared will include:
  • how students at elementary, junior high, and senior levels in nearly all curriculum areas are using the tools, including a locally required Computer Applications course with Google Apps as its core
  • how teachers access standard district unit plans, report grade level results, and even deliver sub plans remotely
  • how administrators have been using email and district calendars, with a focus on using mobile devices, to communicate with staff and the school community
  • how faculty and staff have used Google Docs, Sites, and Groups to deliver and participate in complete professional development courses
  • how Board of Education members are using email and documents to reduce costs and improve communication

Tried and true techniques will be shared that have caused a tremendous shift in the way nearly 2800+ members of our school community work every day because of Google Apps.
